Dear Creative Colleagues:
We need your help! Are you an artist, performer or engaged in a creative business? Do you lead an arts or cultural organization? Do you, a colleague or your members need affordable space to live, work, create, rehearse, perform or conduct business? Whether you are an individual artist or a leader of an arts organization or creative business, we want to hear from you.
The City of Lakewood, 40 West Arts, and Artspace Projects (a national non-profit organization), are conducting a study of the space needs of artists, arts and cultural organizations, and creative and arts friendly businesses in Lakewood, CO and the surrounding region.
This study will assist in the development of affordable new space where artists of all disciplines may live, work, and create, as well as space where creative and arts-related organizations and businesses can thrive in the 40 West Arts District of Lakewood. The 40 West Arts District, a state-designated creative district, is the primary location being considered for an affordable, multi-use, artist live and work community. 40 West Arts is located along West Colfax Avenue on the border between Denver and Lakewood, just 10 minutes from downtown Denver and conveniently on the new W Line light rail.
This study is the second step in a feasibility process, which began in October 2013 when Artspace was invited to assess the potential for a multi-use creative facility to be developed in Lakewood.
